About Ironworks
"Knock, knock."

"Who's there?"

"Ironworks Press Company."

"Ironworks Press Company who?"

"Banana?"

No, none of us had a future in comedy. So here we are.

Based in and around Providence, Rhode Island (yes we're a real state, no we're not an actual island), we're a motley collection of folks originally hailing from places like Oklahoma City, OK, Pittsburgh, PA, and Houston, TX whose paths entwined 30 years ago when we all landed in the Boston, MA area at the same time.Â

Like they say. You make plans, and the Universe laughs (and laughs, and laughs, and...). Three decades of twisting and turning roads ultimately brought us all here. Three decades of friendship, family, and shared artistic pursuits (we're also all musicians and audio nerds). A mechanic, a marketer, and a business leader.Â
Ironworks Press Company exists because there is a literal nation of screen printing shops working hard day in and out to deliver for their customers, their employees, and their own families. We realized they need a place they can go and people they can turn to when something goes wrong. We're proud that we can be that place and those people.

We are sincerely looking forward to working with you.

Our Origin Story
Jeff and Ted first met at Daddy's Junky Music's (RIP) flagship store in Cambridge, MA in the late 1990s where they helped people find the right noise makers.

When he wasn't running a FOH audio board, Jeff was screen printing. He spent years on the road as an expert tech for one of the industry's leading manufacturers (you could say he was a real workhorse). Then he spent some time freelancing.
Â
In his travels, he discovered shops need a trusted partner who can keep them up and running, who can get them quality parts when they need them, and who can provide expert consultation, guidance, and support. He brought this up with Ted and Monica, they put their heads together, Ironworks Press Company was the result.

It is a pleasure to meet you.

Our Vision

To be as helpful as we can be, to charge fair prices for exceptional work and quality parts, and to be nice people.

That's it. Simple, honest, sincere.

We also want to surface and celebrate this country's long, rich history of printing, industry, and mechanical innovation. There are lots of stories out there. We're looking forward to telling some of them with you.
A Note From Our Chief Technician, Jeff Bright

I am a heavy duty mechanic for heavy duty printers, and I’m very glad to meet you. I hope we have the opportunity to work together.

As printers, we see our art upside-down. We are not looking at the words or the picture. We are looking at the ink and how it covers the shirt to create the illusion of an image, to turn a regular human being into a walking, breathing, happy billboard.Â

It takes a hundred steps before the first drop of ink is coerced through the mesh by the pass of the squeegee. It takes a lot of precision equipment to prepare for that moment and create our masterpieces stacked in warm dozens at the end of the dryer. Screenprinting is an extremely difficult craft that’s as much an art. All the elements and variables are constantly changing, drastically affecting everything we do.Â

I started working on the presses, working up to the darkroom, and eventually being the guy up to his elbows in machinery working to heal an injured press and put it back in production. I’m proud of my expertise because I’ve worked hard to earn it. I know you’re as proud of your own expertise for the same reasons. That expertise and our commitment to earning and keeping your trust is a big part of what makes Ironworks Press Co. different.

Screenprinting is a culture. We’re all members of the same tribe. Work with us and you’ll not only get a partner who can keep your shop running. You’ll also get a trusted friend you can call when something’s gone wrong and you need someone to turn to for help.

Flying into T.F. Green airport (PVD)?
Think you're landing in Providence because that's where you were told you were landing? Surprise! You're actually landing in Warwick, about 15 minutes south of Providence. Why? Probably because most people don't seem to know where Rhode Island is, let alone Warwick, RI.
